In seeking an effective approach to a marketing plan with our friends at Half-Moon Gardens, one obstacle to overcome was immediately clear. Location was a major factor. This beautiful garden center featuring extensive greenhouses, nursery, landscape division, feed supply and gift shop is located far off the beaten path. We developed a plan to set Half-Moon apart from the competition, all of whom are located nearer to area hubs. Though we've all heard the phrase "location, location, location", the lack of the perfect one need not detract from profits. Once again, Big Moose had a challenge. While the competition wasawash in typical cliched', "for all your gardening needs" , we took a bold
approach and decided first to create a music jingle that fit the profile of the business and it's clientele. Once we accomplished this, it only seemed natural to pair the jingle with the right spokesperson...or animal. Thus the career of Barney the horse began. As often happens with the proper media plan, a curiosity over Barney ensued quickly. In no time, customers were calling to ask if they could meet the now famous horse. .
